ens was always something I could help people outside crypto understand - register a name! its cheap, you can receive funds to it, use it as a web domain, etc

having seen 4-5 domain speculation cycles, I know how this ends and will be fading it entirely, I just don't care anymore

domain speculation aside, the base brand is already really dominant on the chain. checking in on the buzz around base on twitter, users (imo) believe base is a corporate chain, and their interest today is entirely downstream of speculation on how coinbase will push it. thats great to bootstrap activity, but I'd like to see other brands taking up more space, attracting users are less mercenary

yeah just feels like a suboptimal product. just because it can be made doesn't mean it should. ens does this better and nobody will care about these next week unless some airdrop happens. and then, again, nobody will care. more of a 'poap' than anything.

ens on l2 to be used for based projects sounds good tho, we could've had it already in a way by just having a farcaster username since it's a name and has a wallet tied to it
