more than I can articulate in a cast, but we talk a lot about decentralization from a technical perspective but I'm equally interested in decentralized models of human coordination. 

National liberation movements, insurgencies, even what we might think of as terrorist groups, revolutions, have often operated large scale military operations in decentralized command structures. you can't cut the head of a snake with many heads. 

I've always been interested in military history as its a nexus of culture, technology, religion, and often features closely in transformative movements where perceived realities change enormously. 

this particular history - vietnam for example - represents one of the most successful moments where American hegemony failed to achieve its goals. much of the nation state, decentralization, post-fiat, trustless, composable tech future people talk about here runs straight up against that same immovable force. just interesting stuff to me!

And what did you learn from that? Curious on the connection. fwiw I think we’ve truly slacked on history education. So much to glean from the past (yes even beyond the Roman Empire)
