’s post made me think about a convo I had yesterday. talked to my irl friend about clanker marketing stuff. was also fun to catch up and hear about her work, which began as a substack and has ballooned into something much bigger made me think how profoundly different our industries are from one another, and really how far behind we are ~culturally~ she has achieved far more cultural relevancy, has more reach (her network is honestly insane), major press coverage etc clanker has generated more revenue, way more financial rewards for users I don’t know where we both are in terms of users, but her socials get more engagement article about her work: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/07/business/emily-sundberg-feed-me.html https://x.com/Cooopahtroopa/status/1908081146342097110 1/2

was refreshing to get her perspective, she’s not a crypto person but is familiar enough and lacks the gag reflex lots of people have when served up a plate of coins. also reminded me of how much work we have to do (collectively) to shape and influence culture more positively. and to have what we do recognized, as well made me feel like I should work harder to get clanker out of the crypto bubble, which would mean me getting out of my own. I should probably leverage my real world network more - rather than keeping everything brypto-centric in this sealed box because I assume people won’t fw it unless they are self-motivated crypto people and maybe also because I’m an anon 2/2

3 out of I guess 3 now I also am definitely going to post a job listing in her substack, hiring the best talent will for sure mean hanging around our high quality network here, and also being more creative to attract top talent in other industries

Man this spoke to me so hard Specifically the note about being comfortable getting out of the bryto bubble to open yourself up to feedback that’s frankly really hard to hear and very hard to build around. It’s tough cause you can genuinely build an entire business on the back of crypto native behavior and no one would bat an eye. Clanker has made more revenue from degens than most startups will in their entire life. But what’s the end game here? Until we acknowledge and recognize our shortcomings and embrace the feedback of the people who do have a gag reflex (unlike your friend) we’re only ever going to make a fraction of the impact we could. Really appreciate your insights and honest here - you’re in a super unique position and glad some of what I yapped getting home from a concert resonated 🫡

contact with the real world should be a goal for both more crypto builders and more crypto builds, even if the latter requires more steps than we're comfortable with
