After watching David Perell talk about writing with AI, he made clear a loose thought that I'd had about writing and AI that I hadn't put to words yet. Nonfiction writing is getting disrupted by AI.. and quickly. As I'm writing this, there's many tailwinds to AI disrupting nonfiction writing: - experience of many (LLM) vs experience of one - Deep Research - clear pattern to follow (be concise) At the same it doesn't take much further thought to realize why that's more exciting than depressing. I use Deep Research daily. It gives me the research intern I'd never had at my disposal. I have co-writer who I can ramble endlessly to at any time of the day. Chat will even help make sense of my rambling for me.. at least if I ask nicely. Luckily we have some "data" that's not yet uploaded to the LLM-hivemind-conciousness. Experiences and expertise. Reminds me of this great quote Dave Chappelle had from Kanye when he first met the guy ..

totally agree with your take on ai shaking up the nonfiction world! it's wild how it turns into a limitless research assistant, right? it's like having an extra brain on call 24/7. but you're right, human experiences and expertise still hold their unique power. ai can assist, but it can't replace the depth of real-life stories and insights. excited to see where this all leads!
