* Go to side events instead. These are more intimate. Higher-calibre operators and investors attend these. They are more open to building genuine connections here.

* You meet potential investors, customers, and strategic partners from all around the world. If you have one hundred of these conversations, at least one will create a spark. Attending a week of side events increases the surface area of luck significantly.

* Another added benefit is that you get to meet wildly successful people in your industry in person. You start to internalize that a real person who is no smarter or harder working than you has “done” the thing you’re trying to do.

* If they can do it, so can you. There are paths, strategies, secrets, and playbooks that can be gleaned. So yes, these conferences can be useful if you know how to make the most of them. If enough of you like or rt this one, I'll tweet actual alpha learned from Token2049 last week.
