Being good at your job is not good enough. You must also be “likable”, and by the right people. Being good at politics is actually #1 or they will say, “high risk, will get eaten alive here”.

True at larger (corporates) but at small companies / startups I feel as if its culture fit + get stuff done >>> politics. No time for that lol

I feel this across company sizes/scales. I’ve worked as employee 10 to 1200. If the VP of Engineering or CRO doesn’t want to work with you, they don’t have to especially when the market is ripe with talent…
