BJP’s first slate of 195 candidates has a lot of churn, 14% women and and 1 Muslim candidate. Seems to be an outcome of winnability calculations. The party talks a more liberal line than these numbers suggest but is increasingly struggling to align representation and rhetoric. The mandir strategy hasn’t helped.
