What do folk think is the best abandonware game is? IMHO Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is, and maybe the greatest PC based game of all time.

100 $degen for good old homm3. it might not be my fav game, but it's the one you can find in every PC/laptop I have

For "games that never go away" for me, I do play a lot Jagged Alliance 2 too, before that it was Fallout 2.

Jagged Alliance 2! True story, that was almost published by the old company I got my start at, Strategic Simulations Incorporated, when SirTech went under... I played the pre-release and we tried to get the publishing rights but got outbid.

Holy shit what a story! I've played many SSI games, from D&D to Close Combat...Wowow, WC is really full of surprises and hidden heroes. What are you working on nowadays?

I'm the Digital Lead on RENGA, not specifically games but the collections reward systems and digital activations.  I loved the gold box D&D games and Close Combat. I was working on the Warhammer games there.
