communities are defined by some level of reciprocal care.  platforms like twitter are not.

communities protect their members by managing their own tools — eg for inclusion (eg @dwr.eth’s dms) and exclusion (eg bans).

today our tools define how we can be together and twitter decides our public.  cancel culture has been a tool for communities to manage their boundaries where they don’t have power over exclusion

we need new tools where communities can manage their boundaries and affordances for themselves.  tools should reflect communities’ agreements for how they want to relate and be together.

fwb app and farcaster are great early examples.  im excited that decentralized social tools, web3 composability, and community-owned smart contracts will unlock this for many others.
