interesting insight. still forming my own thoughts after reading it. given merkle’s stated plan is for farcaster and warpcast to win crypto first, the last sentence in theory means that it is going according to plan.

For clarity, not a criticism, just my observation. Targeting crypto makes a lot of sense, but it's a tiny niche, and one that's very unappealing to most normies. Which is fine! Better having a small niche than nothing at all. The real question is is there a goal to expand the audience later? How can that happen? What are the drawbacks to targeting crypto first? (like I said, unappealing to most people)

Thank you. For clarity, mine is almost not a criticism! Just an observation, as well. We share the same POV on it. Based on what the team has said, yes, there is a goal to expand the audience later. Thanks for being here btw. Appreciate you.

Makes sense. That said, I hope to further enable hardcore crypto users, then normal crypto interested people and then grow into all kinds of directions (whether that is friends groups, random communities or general social media). I do think many „normies“ that invest in crypto would sign up & irregularly check in just to get access to 1 channel with the best (aka most well known) crypto influencers posting and quality curated crypto news. Neither Twitter nor news platforms offer that anymore. Some tg channels come closest but are too deep into crypto. Essentially the same applies to AI and many other categories. (Sports coverage & ofc entertainment is better on other platforms though)

It seems to me they are creating a strong crypto community of builders and natives. Perhaps the hope is that one or a few of the toys built here will break through and reach a wider audience and expand the platform base. Perhaps the toys go out into the wild and no value accrues here. I have no idea. I'm here for the amazing people, projects, and opportunities that are here now.
