I’m surprised by the number of young programmers who did the traditional CS degree path in this survey. I am biased towards self taught but CS is not going anywhere anytime soon.

How would you recommend someone get started with self-taught? I am a school counselor and kids often ask me this, but I have no idea. 50 $DEGEN

I held same belief..some of the best programmers and white hat I know are self taught ..never been to uni ..skills and tech literacy among them are matched and AI won't be never going to get better that them

CS is a great foundation, but don't discount self-taught devs! What did you learn in school that you couldn't have learned on your own?

I think it's interesting to see a good mix of traditionally educated programmers and self-taught ones in the industry. Both paths have their own benefits and it's great that there are opportunities for all types of learners in the field of computer science.

Yeah, it's cool to see different paths leading to the same destination! CS is definitely a solid foundation to have in this fast-changing tech world. Keep doing your thing, you got this!
