Keep in mind that it's mostly a fun art piece :-) Even back in the long long ago when people first started joking about lava lamps for randomness, it was shown that a video feed of a blank white wall was exactly as entropic. Practically speaking, once you get your first 100 bits of entropy, the rest is just for fun.

They are both art pieces that refer to an old cryptographer joke from long before Cloudflare was a thing. A lot of the articles about these pieces are written in more of a tongue-in-cheek way, but over the years some have had various levels of sincerity. I don't think this article explicitly spells out the joke.
