Do you have ideas about peace, how to end wars? To be very honest, i don't know what peace is, how lasting peace can be achieved, in the context of today's Europe and in the context of people who bring down airplanes with innocent civilians, like the MH 17 in 2014. However, i do know that pacifism leads to more violence, unfortunately. So, I translated a very good opinion about the topic, by Dutch public intellectual Hubert Smeets, Pacifism in times of war:

Sir? When the Gulf War started, I was 25. I read the message in a Dutch newspaper on the lawn, at a swimming pool. I remember being shocked. After all, the Berlin Wall had just fallen & Nelson Mandela had been liberated. My hopes for more peace were dashed again. Dad💞✨was still alive. We talked a lot & regularly about the 'state of the world', my father & I. He was just as worried about it as I was. Then, when armed conflicts started in Yugoslavia in 1991, I panicked. This is how this painting came about. Calming myself, while researching armed conflicts.
