Austin Campbell makes some great points about stablecoins here that I didn't really think about, and it seems clear companies like Blackrock that are not directly banks, are pretty much in the right position to compete in this market.

Meanwhile traditional banks appear to be hampered by their own balance sheets, and will likely refuse stablecoins from competing banks.

Its hard for me to see how this circle gets squared, and whether Circle and Tether are just going to continue to dominate while banks just run underlying accounts for stablecoins.
