Kinda hybrid American immigrant food - the chicken is based on a Chinese dish I had at House of Nanking in SF, the broccoli I steamed in lemon ginger tea based on tea-steamed vegetables at a japanese restraunt in NYC, and the barley is a grain salad with crunchy raw veg and a vinegary dressing, based on Vietnamese Gแปi Gรก and a farro salad I read about in a moosewood cookbook.
