Permissionless exit/sale (or rage quit) is now my bar for DAOs I’m willing to trust with significant value or energy. I have no problem with time locks, but I’ve got a serious hangover from the snapshot/multisig era of DAOs this morning.

Yes! People being able to permissionlessly move from low value to high value engagement needs to be a primary source of network/system intelligence. When people are incentivised/coerced into staying in low value engagements we are just recreating that the low quality coordination patterns we are attempting to escape.

↑ opps, hit CMD+ENTER key too fast too. Meant to drop my response here too to what you and @bpeats.eth said Rowan. I'm loving seeing all these design instincts maturing as "time in the field" grows, and we both see & feel in our bones, dynamics that Work vs dynamics that were good ideas but lacked depth.
