Picked up an ereader today because I need to scroll less and read more. About 50% in The Camino by Anya Niewierra. Growing up Dutch gave me some exposure to the atrocities of the Yugoslav wars, this book hits hard for me. 

Also, color e inkt is bullshit and makes for a lesser experience. I’ll have to exchange this thing for a bw version.

Context: OpenAI had zero moat because open source models like DeepSeek R1 are beating OpenAI's expensive o1 (and doing it faster too).

Now with an unprecedented government subsidy, OpenAI will finally have a moat: compute power.

Government does not subsidize your home-run open-source LLM, but it will subsidize this giant corporation, so their "moat" will be doing the same thing faster & cheaper (because again, gov't subsidized THEM, not YOU)

And that's why Sam Altman was sucking up to Trump.

As you know, normie leftists have been very skeptical of AI, and one thing they quoted often was how a day of 20 ChatGPT queries were equivalent to 30 mins of AC usage.

I wonder if DeepSeek being 33x more efficient would change their mind.
