I guess the other direction is easier (easier to have empathy for founders, pick up 2am calls); I think understanding the financial and legal constraints of private investment is a very valuable skill to learn. Often times, private investments rely on a lot of nuance in terms of the assets used (e.g. when should warrants be used vs. not) and understanding which instruments can shoot you in the foot is important I'd also say understanding the dynamics between private and public markets in crypto is something that's hard to learn without being on the private side. I'd argue this is why you see so many people on the liquid only side complaining on CT a lot whereas everyone who does privates sort of stays quiet. Understanding the psychology of liquid funds who view the private assets as "pseudo liquid" from the perspective of a founder and VC has been useful when it comes to understanding pricing power and market dynamics of various participants
