Such a great book. I’ve had just as many conversations with readers who hated it as readers who loved it. If folks go into it with the expectation that Rick Rubin is going to spill secrets on all the artists he’s worked with, I can see being disappointed. But no, he’s trying to make YOU a great artist.

He’s also very zen in how he does it. Some people think it comes off as cold or detached. I loved it; it felt like he was trying to get to the deepest truths rather than have opinions about everything.
