The spam algorithm went on a rampage this weekend. Channel changes are imminent. What should be be doing this week to prepare? How can you avoid the spam label for the next week? Letโs talk about it on the State of the Union call. All are welcome. RSVP and youโll get the link for the recording!

I wonder how much of this has to do with Moxie, both from a spam-labeled usersโs standpoint (maybe over-replying without reciprocation by the original caster) and the original caster (maybe hesitating to reply due to Moxie implications). It does seem odd that we saw such an uptick in the number of spam labels.

Iโm being farmed hard and Iโm ignoring low effort replies that I canโt easily see the context in my notifications.

Others have taken a similar approach recently too (myself included), and thatโs sort of my point. I feel like itโs helping weed out a lot of actual spammers, and unfortunately some legitimate users are getting caught up in it as well.

Iโm casting about it constantly. I donโt know what else to do.

Yeah, youโve done more than your part to raise awareness. I feel like itโs up to each individual now to consider the potential implications/consequences anytime they reply. Itโs unfortunate it has to be that way, but until thereโs a better way of reliably differentiating bots/intentional spam, maybe there is no other choice? Regardless, itโs sort of an awkward place to be in.
