Your Farcaster Casts are your CV (a π§΅) When I get a notification that someone commented on my post and I donβt recognize the name/pfp, the first thing I do is scroll their profile. I make a judgement in about 15 seconds and try to determine if I think you are an authentic account or a spammer/scammer/farmer. Here are the things I look for: 1. Are you posting original content? 2. Is your profile mostly recasts and frames? 3. If you are casting to big channels (cough /itookaphoto /nature) do the photos look like you took them or are they stolen from Pinterest? 4. Are you casting to channels that generate a lot of spam? (Iβm not going to throw shade at the channels in public)

If I canβt easily tell that you are an authentic account, I hesitate to interact. Our follows empower scammers. I donβt care do much that I accidentally follow a spammy account, but I do care if I follow an account thatβs being set up to scam people. They tend to have a pattern and an MO for how they cast. Itβs subtle but they tend to casts in popular channels with stolen content. I donβt know their end game, but I assume they interact with me hoping I will interact back and maybe follow to boost their credibility.

1. Are you posting original content? You have to post mostly original content here to be taken seriously. This is a social network. People want to be social and comment on interesting things. There are thousands and thousands of channels. You should be able to find places to post niche content that is unique and fun. Most people drink /coffee Everyone should have a photo of /nature on their phone Everyone takes photos /itookaphoto Everyone eats /food Use @buoy to search keywords for topics you like. Find the channels that fit your vibe. Post original content.

2. Is your profile mostly recasts and frames? There is nothing wrong with recasting and casting some frames. But if your profile is ONLY other peopleβs stuff, what is the point of following you? You could make this valuable by adding context and talking about why people should pay attention to it. If your profile is mostly other peopleβs work, youβll probably be ignored.

3. If you are casting to big channels (cough /itookaphoto /nature) do the photos look like you took them or are they stolen from Pinterest? I get really excited when I see a cool photo in these channels. Did I miss an amazing new photographer joining Farcaster? 99% of the time the answer is no, I didnβt. The account is just stealing photos from the internet and posting them. I mute them. Ainβt nobody got time for that. Most legit photographers will be followed by other known photographers or have links to their portfolios and work in their profile.

4. Are you casting to channels that generate a lot of spam? (Iβm not going to throw shade at the channels in public) I wonβt list the channels but some are havens for spammers and if you are consistently casting there, many accounts will ignore you. I mute these channels in Warpcast so I rarely see them because the people I follow donβt cast there. You have a LOT of control now with channel mutes. Use them.
