"Ping Pong" is such an awesome anime! Taiyo Matsumoto's work is so artistic, and I was worried if it could be recreated in anime, but the rotoscoping technique makes the movements feel so real and intense. It's even cooler than the manga. The colors and music are absolutely outstanding! Matsumoto has a unique style that was popular among enthusiasts, but commercial success was tough. To make it more sellable, the editor-in-chief asked him to write about high school sports, and it's amazing that he chose ping pong, which seems a bit dull to turn into a manga. But only Taiyo Matsumoto could make ping pong look this cool.
