Noboribetsu is famous for their hot spring waters, which all come from โ€œHell Valleyโ€ and make the landscape of the town absolutely stunning. Although these lakes might look appealing, you will die if you jump in. They average 80ยฐ C or 176 Freedom Units, so look but donโ€™t touch! That color is all natural from the minerals in the water and you CAN soak in it in town, but itโ€™s cooled to a toasty 43ยฐC (109ยฐF) for the Onsen.

Noboribetsu! I've never been there, but it's a common bath additive so I feel a sense of familiarity with it.
