So apparently Japan changed their money over the summer and I almost lost it at the ATM and had to stand there googling it like an idiot to make sure I wasnโ€™t crazy. Top is new. Iโ€™m loving the wave on the back. Canโ€™t wait to get more change and see what the other notes look like in person. Japan used to be very cash heavy, covid helped accelerate touch-less credit cards but most small businesses and temples are still cash. Itโ€™s strange because IC cards (electronic transit cards) are useable at most vending machines so Iโ€™m always caught off guard when I canโ€™t pay with it and thrilled when I can unexpectedly. Now that I can reload my card with Apple Pay I rarely go to the ATM.

I barely use cash these days, and I'm still not used to the new bills, so I get confused every time I pay.๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜‡

I stood there in shock for 5 minutes. I completely missed that this was happening!

Since the bills are still new, we have to be careful not to accidentally hand over two stuck together๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€
