One of the benefits of pair programming (or pairing on any technical task) is having another person ask you simple questions like: "Why did you just do that?" "Is there a shortcut for this?" "This part seems complicated. Can you explain what's happening?" It's really easy to get stuck in a routine working solo.

i’ve been doing a few technical interviews (which yes, it’s a solo task) but damnit i find myself asking questions exactly like what you’re describing. i miss pair programming, it’s so powerful.

I have mixed feelings about it. I like it when I'm stuck and trying to figure out why. A lot of times, just talking it out helps me solve the problem. But, I also feel more stressed when I'm pairing, and sometimes that stress makes it harder for me to think straight.
