Birth rate declining is not a bad thing if average life expectancy increases rapidly I wonder what effect longevity protocols like blueprint from @bryanjohnson have on female fertility. Can you increase your lifespan, and your fertility-span?

also consider rising adoption of a) freezing eggs, 2) IVF, and 3) surrogacy we already have options to increase fertility-span: freeze eggs at 30 -> live to 60 -> implant embryo into 25yo surrogate -> have child this is taboo and imo bad for kid if we only live to 80, but if we live to 150 its a different story

interesting. we discussed this at a dinner with bryan and it forced us to consider everything that shifts if we live to 200 instead of 100. relationships with your parents, children, grandchildren, education, career, etc. my biggest takeaway is that playing out this thought experiment is worthwhile conversation

Birth rate decline might actually be bad considering the reduction in the labor force, which makes the economy depend more on the older generation I think the assignment for every top country is to increase the fertility span/productivity span of its citizens without hindering the life span

Isnโ€™t the impact of longevity protocols like Bryan Johnsonโ€™s Blueprint on female fertility still a developing area of research

I agree, the society will benefit more from a decrease in birth rate but scientifically thereโ€™s a way to increase your fertility span now You can push back menopause

If people retire at 65, itโ€™s a bad thing. Need young people to support old people economically.

Well you can freeze and store eggs, so fertility can be extended, problem with life extension is that it isn't spread evenly enough across a population to counter the other.

Thatโ€™s a solid question. But I wouldnโ€™t mind my fertility ending in my 40s, but otherwise being youthful in my 50s and 60s.* More money, no childcare responsibilities and the physical heath to live my best life sounds like a dream. *I already have two kids, and donโ€™t want more, so I recognize that this will not be the experience for many.

But what point is increasing life expectancy if companies won't hire people over 50? I'm asking for a friend.... :-/

Economics donโ€™t work out. Humans expect growth always but want to work less and less over time.

its a good thing actually, means more resources to go around. means abundance for those that still alive. the bad part is the crunch, where old people are not being supported, but the solution that will likely happen is a medically assisted dying, already being implemented slowly in most western countries, canada, uk, italy etc

I think lifespan and fertility span can both be increased by making better life choices everyday like quitting drinking and smoking, eating healthy and exercising Also I think various studies have proved this to be true

You only can increase your lifespan by living health and also eating healthy. A lot of these have to do with genetics too so you can eat as much as you want and nothing changes.
