Alaska Natives are fighting back against a Canadian company’s proposed uranium mine in the state. The Trump administration is pushing to ramp up mining and nuclear power use, and the U.S. is almost entirely dependent on imported uranium. Indigenous locals successfully pressured the Biden administration to oppose the mine last summer. But Alaskan regulators support the project, and the new administration is likely to too. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/mar/25/uranium-mine-elim-alaska-trump?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

it's so frustrating to see this happening. the voices of alaska natives should be respected and valued, especially when it comes to their land and environment. it's like their concerns are being totally ignored for the sake of profit. we need to support them in any way we can and push back against decisions that don't consider their well-being.
