✨ Relation to MetaGame ✨ MetaGame occupies itself with topics like DAOs, network states & well-functioning socioeconomic systems. Moreover, you can see how Switzerland, Zuzalu, and the NextGen Village are all playing metagames in their own ways. MetaFest Switzerland 2025? Yes, almost certainly. - [Stay up to date with Zuitzerland](https://t.me/Zuitzerland) - [Or read the full post first](https://metagame.substack.com/p/prototyping-utopias-in-swiss-alps)

✨ NextGen Village ✨ “A home for pioneers and a place that sparks our collective imagination of what life in a regenerative, technologically advanced and culturally thriving society of the future could look like.” They secured a 100,000m2 location that will be remodeled into this “civilizational accelerator”. Exploring a range of topics including governance, economy, philosophy, space, health, mobility, energy, resource management, housing, manufacturing & robotics..... Each of the labs will be hosting one or multiple startups, each of the labs and utilities will be managed by different DAOs etc. It will house 500 people, with sleeping pods and camping areas for temporary accommodations. Zuitzerland will be the first event held there 👀

✨ Zuitzerland ✨ Long term, it‘s about building a permanent node for the Zuzalu network and about becoming Switzerland‘s 27th canton. More than anything, Zuitzerland is about learning how the Swiss run Switzerland and their cooperatives. Zuitzerland will start as a 6-8 weeks gathering for 200-300 people. We‘ll be: - Learning from the Swiss - Teaching them about Web3 - Balancing Solarpunk & Lunarpunk Anything from DAOs & d/acc, to regenerative living & incubating new projects at the intersection. OK but where?

✨ Zuzalu ✨ Zuzalu started as a 3 month residency in Montenegro. They rented a whole resort where 200+ people could stay, then organized a shitload of events - from conferences to infinite meetups. Topics included: - Crypto - AI - Longevity - Network states Let‘s just say that bringing people from across these different fields, resulted in a lot of very interesting encounters as well as projects. Since then, they did dozens of events around the world and built a whole suite of tools for their community, events and discussions. You could call Zuzalu a movement or a network state, but it kind of refuses to be boxed in. In short, I‘d say Zuzalu is about aggregating the brightest minds to bring together the frontiers of tech, push the boundaries and build cool shit.

✨ Switzerland ✨ ...is made up of 26 regions with their own constitutions, legislative bodies, governments and judicial systems? For the past 700 years, the Swiss built cooperatives for anything from food and housing, to banks, media and fashion. As a result of their long history of egalitarianism and cooperative governance - most decision making and ~80% of public services are managed at the regional and municipal levels. They also vote on national issues ~4 times a year, and anyone can propose change to constitution. Finally, 75% of the Swiss regularly enjoy outdoor physical activities while strong social safety nets and affordable housing policies allow the "Swiss poor" to live well too. Tl;dr - Well functioning democracy - Culture of cooperatives & decentralization - Emphasis on wellbeing

What if the future of cities isn't about building bigger metropolises, but creating tight-knit neighborhoods where people actually know each other? 🤔 In this episode, we explore how @cabin is building a "network city", aiming to combat loneliness and the rising costs of living in big cities, to create more fulfilling ways of living in our increasingly disconnected world. Things discussed - From remote residencies to local communities - Difference between Network City and Network State - Neighborhood Accelerator Program 👀👀👀 - Building thriving neighborhoods - Starting small & growing organically - Potential uses of crypto in neighborhoods & towns - Community currencies and reciprocity economies - The Meta: Looking to History for Inspiration https://pods.media/nextmeta/building-thriving-neighborhoods-w-jon-hillis

So far, music NFTs have been driven mostly by speculation. This ended up being a bad deal for both degens and artists, who ended up beholden by people who aren‘t their true fans... What if music NFTs aren‘t meant to be flipped? 🤔 You should mint music NFTs because: 1️⃣ Artists you love get paid fairly 2️⃣ You become a part of their social graph A single $2 mint will get them as much as 500 plays on Spotify. You get a direct way to support the artist you love, AND start building a relationship with them. Later, you can prove you were an early fan & you may be rewarded by the artist, or enjoy the financial upside of their success if they have a token. @coopahtroopa.eth‘s @cooprecs is prob the best thing to have happened to onchain music! Go check out the freshly launched: https://www.cooprecords.xyz/ Also consider minting this ep: https://pods.media/nextmeta/why-the-future-of-music-is-onchain-w-cooper

Zooming in, you see each has natural allies across the political spectrum, as well as existing nonprofits, forprofits & governmental initiatives acting in that area. ...In a web of powers & incentives, along with natural enemies or people who could abuse these memes into furthering their own agenda... Tl;dr I think meta ideologies hit reality and splinter into something far more complex, unpredictable, sometimes completely disconnected from the initial ideology & sometimes tragic, as seen throughout the 20th & into 21st century 🥲 Even when successful, they turn into a dozen flavors of the thing, start infighting & dividing. Again boosted, manipulated & exploited by malicious actors (basically the "geeks, mops & sociopaths" story as well as the whole "identity politics" currently taking place) All of this kind of also made people afraid of meta ideologies, which are by definition totalitarian. Part of the reason people have an allergic reaction to "woke" & start talking about "the communist agenda" 🤣

It‘s just more practical.. Even if you start at the meta level, it comes down to "ok, where do we start" - and then even this very first step or MVP ends up taking waaay longer. Meanwhile the meta ideology gets diluted & sometimes dies in execution bc of the plethora of reasons people hop in to support that specific issue. Let‘s look at metamodernism, possibly the most meta of meta ideologies. Basically starts with "lets take the deconstructionist view of postmodernism but combine it with the progressivist mindset of modernism" Then it goes "ok, lets start with these focus areas:" - Democratization Politics - Updating systems of governance - Community Politics - Improving the quality of human relationships - Existential Politics - Supporting people’s life journeys & mental health - Freedom Politics - Protecting people from all forms of oppression - Empirical Politics - Evaluating policies & institutional practices - Politics of Theory - Co-developing the narratives societies rely on ...

No? Remember, almost any of the above can be pushed through politics, governmental organizations, NGOs, nonprofits - but also startups and corporations if you prefer the pure market route. Also, here are many useful links: https://arc.net/folder/ABE60E88-5D37-4EF6-BB6A-6CB05EC9D052

Towards a Sustainable Future Unfortunately, the world-system simply isn’t functioning in a socially, economically or ecologically sustainable way. Call it late stage capitalism, we just call it outdated systems. In an ironic twist of fate, to solve hard problems of the world-system, we need to look inwards, into our emotional lives and the nature of our intimate relationships with ourselves, each other and the world. As psychology, behavior, culture and systems develop, humanity will self-organize in new ways and the way we play life will be changed. If a society is doing well & the games of everyday life are fair, people are able to think in more far-sighted ways. Positive feedback loops and butterfly effects all around! - Got anything better to do? 🤷‍♂️

Memetic Revolution All six forms of politics have natural allies that want to implement them. Democratization Politics gets pushed by centrist & leftwing parties, Emancipation Politics gets pushed on by libertarian & rightwing parties etc. Ultimately, metamodernism beats modern ideologies in their own games. Its freer than libertarianism, more egalitarian than socialism, more sustainable & regenerative than ecologism, more prudent than conservatism & more rebellious than anarchism. ...the sinister plot for metamodernism to take over the world 😱 The good news is, you don’t have to do anything evil. No coups, no lies, no deceptions and not even low-blows in debates!

The Process-oriented Party For those who dare to try to change the system from within 👀 The ultimate goal is to hijack municipalities, nation states & companies under co-developmental leadership of the process-oriented party to build a transnational layer of governance. "Process-oriented" parties and organizations play a key role here, those focused on having the best process for debate, dialogue & deliberation. They won‘t be most popular, but they will be most trusted & least hated. No strong alliances but many weak ties - in network terms, you reach the highest centrality/power; you are more connected than all others. Perspective-taking is key. The purest heart wins because it judges others less and hence understands them better, then defeats them more easily. 👀
