fair point, but I'm assuming there were also a lot of startups that were never started because of the vast horizontal expansion of R&D projects within Big Tech companies that deterred potential founders

without conviction they could compete maybe they would've ended up failing anyways

what if AMZN/GOOG/MSFT builds this  isn't a problem for startups in low cost of capital env either 

 i remember pg sharing a stat back in 2013 that only 1 yc company had actually suffered this fate after nearly a thousand companies had been funded

It is but building in this economy requires a lot of conviction, VC’s are probably already acting stingy with cheques/terms and consumers aren’t interested in wasting money they don’t have on potentialities
