ITAP of an unidentified male Hawaiian monk seal who showed up at one of our pup sites when I was on Oahu this summer. Male monk seals frequently show up at pup sites, perhaps trying to get an inside track on making friends with mom... but mother monk seals definitely do not want visitors when they are nursing a pup.

Scratching an itch… actually, I picked a shot where the flies buzzing around his face were less obvious, but he may have been irritated by them as well. 🤙🏼💙🦭
