@yuga said it best tho all they can do is own some Bitcoin, not own the protocol if the banks want to buy my bags they are welcome to, it's a free market

The reason people in crypto are excited about the ETF is not because they want to buy the ETF themselves. It’s because of its potential to increase mainstream demand for BTC, and therefore the price.

Many of us are excited because it brings one step closer for mainstream and retails. ETF, we don’t really own that yeah but with this, demand for BTC will go up.

It is a step forward in some ways, because of the air of legitimacy primarily, as well as what many hope to be new inflows. However an ETF is bad for personal sovereignty, privacy, and self custody. We like to think that people are in crypto for these things. We certainly are.

I can rally behind the argument of “legitimization” but we all know many are here just for the bags and the lolz And I’ll be damned if the ETF hasn’t already delivered on the latter
