For sure, no one wants to be interrupted and the leader should be doing something else anyway. If they feel the need to check in randomly they probably hired the wrong people.

Yeah. I do think it's good to check in and stay on top of what people are doing, but not with "hey, can we talk for a minute...?" That interrupts focus and depending on the environment and your relationship some people find it stressful.
