"Why are you back here?" my grandmother asked, her eyes narrowing as she looked at me from her rocking chair.
I stood in the doorway of our old family home, feeling a mix of emotions as I gazed at the familiar surroundings. It had been years since I'd last set foot in this house.
"I came back for the family reunion," I said, trying to sound casual despite the butterflies in my stomach.
My grandmother raised an eyebrow. "You're a little late for that, aren't you? The reunion was last week."
I took a deep breath, feeling a pang of guilt. "I know. I'm sorry. I've been away for a long time, and I wasn't sure if I was welcome back."
My grandmother looked at me for a long moment, her expression softening. "You're always welcome back, child," she said, opening her arms to me. "This is your home, and your family will always be here for you."
As I hugged my grandmother, I felt a sense of belonging and love that I'd been missing for so long. I knew that I was home, and that I would never be alone again. 1 reply
