1. Venetian masks, known as "Bauta", were originally used to ensure anonymity and social equality during Carnival. 2. Masks were made of papier-mâché, clay or gauze and completely covered the face, leaving little chance of being “exposed.” 3. Venetian masks have become a symbol of the Carnival in Venice, which attracts tourists from all over the world to immerse themselves in the magic and atmosphere of the Venetian tradition.
