I am pausing my activity on Warpcast for the foreseeable future due to the current issue with large number of bots.

Recent posts over the past few months have received hundreds of likes and recasts coming mostly from bots.

Sad to hear that, I’ve always enjoyed your posts. 

There are a lot of bots that keep trying to get into Farcaster because of potential airdrops. All of them pay money to sign up. 

Bots can earn hundreds of dollars of tokens, so they have a lot of incentive to come here, much more than Twitter. 

We’ve spent a lot of time fighting bots and developing machine learning algorithms to flag spam. It’s not perfect but we will keep improving it.

i'm sure you guys have discussed it internally but i'm curious what's the reasoning behind not using a PoH provider, given there's so many, including some built on the superchain?

okay, but that's a different problem, for which different measures are necessary (e.g. reputation). i'm specifically addressing bots (non-humans), which can be largely (if not entirely) sidelined with PoH. that alone significantly reduces the problem of 'low quality' interactions.

with that addressed, i'd imagine it becomes easier to tackle the separate point you're raising: authenticity.

the word bot is used to just mean "accounts that seem inauthentic"

sure, but isn't that missing the point too? people want quality interactions and reduce spam - there's solutions that can already tackle the great majority of these problems, though aren't being adopted/integrated for some reason
