This piece has a lot of truth in it. It mines the 'golden at of Star Trek' (the 1990s) for advice on how Disney can better steer the creative direction of the Star Wars franchise. Essentially, the argument is that Star Wars needs a stronger central creative vision, but that not all entries in the franchise need to have equal emphasis. More creative freedom is granted to shows that are less essential.

I just want to make sure I have this correct: Smartphone manufacturers now make smartwatches, and conventional watch manufacturers now make smart rings.

In my opinion, the most successful productions in the Disney era of Star Wars have been the ones that are lower stakes. For instance, I thought 'Andor' and 'Rogue One' were terrific. When the stakes were super high for the previous trilogy, and what was produced was a muddled mess of storytelling. How could Disney lower the stakes? Tell stories in the universe detached from legacy characters for a while. https://papatoshi.com/24star16

Did we find (and accidentally kill) microbes on Mars? ═══ ⋆ ☆ ★⋅☆ ⋆ ═══ https://papatoshi.com/24mars15 This theory isn't new, but I figured many people might not be aware of the possibility. This article summarizes how it might have happened with the Viking probes in the 1970s.

One aspect of this that is quite useful to me, in my specific situation, is that I don’t have true WiFi in my residence (yes, gotta love living on 10 hectares of private land in the middle of nowhere, but there are consequences), and I still use a wired printer, thumb drives for storage, etc.

GIFT POTENTIAL: Laptop Hub for $59.99 I’m tempted at this price, and this device offers a lot of compatibility. Is anyone using something at the moment that has this much versatility?

This show, ‘Say Nothing’, about the Troubles in Northern Ireland is getting amazing reviews. The first episode premieres today. I’ve put it on my watch list for next week!

Nordstrom is selling a $535 candle. The reviews only give it 3.3 stars out of 5.0. If you’re going to charge $535 for a 1.2kg candle, it had better get better reviews than that. I think candles are kind of lazy gifts in the first place. The only lazier gift if a gift card. https://papatoshi.com/24candle13

I work in a very large organization, so I can pick and choose whom I socialize with. I like that I don’t have to be everyone’s friend.

I, too, can be exhausted by socializing. I only socialize with a select group of coworkers who are familiar to me, so the conversation come easily. We generally see films (I see a lot of films, as my feed reveals) and then go out for drinks (the cinema has an excellent bar and bartender). For me, the familiarity takes away stress, but I am not neuro-divergent, so my experience will vary.

For many years before my present job, I worked remotely, and thus the only time I saw coworkers was during online meetings, which I always find stressful. Now I work in an office and have a cohort of fellow employees whom I socialize with. I don’t really care if it makes us more productive at work because we socialize, but it is a valuable social outlet.

I saw ‘Conclave’ last night with friends, and it was so much fun. It’s also a beautifully shot film.

Does anyone else experience the phenomenon where you support a Kickstarter, totally forget about it, and then feel like a kid at Christmas when the item arrives a year later?

Fraya is working on the farm today with her cousin Fritz and my dad, while I’m running errands in the city. Fritz already caught a mole today, I am told.
