Until somebody uses the blockchain to solve a non-financial problem the mainstream user cares about, yes.

They exist, identity on-chain for credentials and verification in trustluss manner is a huge one for me. DVLA is putting all drivers licence on chain right now

I hear you, that's one use case, sure. But where is the real problem solved for the end user? A driver's license is regulated by the state, which is centralized by definition. So what is the improvement in user experience for my father if we put that in the blockchain? He already has a digital certificate.

Theoretically that should open up a far easier way for technologies to verify if your father has a licence or not, reduce the pricing of registration of licence
