Are Merkle trees still the best way to handle onchain allowlist? Anything simpler or a service to manage them?

I do think merkle-trees are still the best way to aggregate a list of addresses into a single Hash. At @vocdoni we have implemented this service to scan any web3 chain and generate a merkle-tree https://github.com/vocdoni/census3 Not sure if It's what you are looking for.
