GM Degens, I know the recent bans didn’t sit well with everyone. We used a rule-based approach to target sybils, but it’s a tough battle, and we’re just two people. If you got caught in the crossfire, I’m sorry. There was collateral damage, but we also hit a lot of big farmers. These decisions aren’t easy, but they’re made for the community’s long-term health. If you’re feeling discouraged, I get it. Tipping was meant to be fun—sharing memes, onboarding new users—not a paycheck. Let’s bring back that energy: meme, create, and enjoy the space without stressing over prices. Moving forward, we’ll act on community reports and evidence instead of broad rules. I have been taking photos for about 18 years and I have been in NFT for almost 5 years, my photos have been bought by many collectors and I have never been banned anywhere and never seen as a farmer. I am not sorry for the degenes I cannot claim but it was really disappointing to be banned and seen as a farmer @jacek

Again, I didn’t personally go and pick anyone out—it was a rule that got applied, and unfortunately, a lot of people got caught in it. We did catch a lot of bad actors, but sadly, some innocent people were affected too. It’s really hard to detect farmers perfectly. I’m sorry if it hurt you, but we had to take action because the farmers were definitely taking advantage of the system.

so how are you going to separate the farmers in the next claim? and many artists will continue to suffer with this system, have you found a solution to this?

I agree with you Özlem, I think artists here have created a very strong network with a lot of engagement, so that is valuable for the protocol and the whole ecosystem too, not to mention we cast original content and I rather support other artists with my allowance than tipping users casting stolen memes, so we might not be the biggest group on farcester, but would be nice to treated a bit more valuable and not putting us into the farmers category immediately,when we support eachother.

First rule of DEGEN: please don’t use it to pay your rent! DEGEN is all about tipping, spreading the meme, and having fun—it’s not meant to be a reliable income source. If anyone is depending on it for that, they’re missing the point. We’re not looking to do wide sweeping bans or punish people harshly. Instead, we’re filtering users throughout the season as we notice abuse. We’ve already started identifying those exploiting the system, so it’s an ongoing process. The goal is to protect genuine users like artists and community builders while keeping the vibe intact. Let’s keep having fun and sharing DEGEN the way it’s meant to be.
