Crazy that the cost to transact on L2 right now is ~$1.

I know 4844 will change this very soon but feel like the vision being sold for L2 was "free and instant" and we're already starting to see fees become a meaningful blocker prior to a real bull market starting.

Praying we don't run back outrageous tx fees again.

L2s were never about "free and instant" sorry, they're just an attempt on better scaling with optimistic execution, fraud proofs, zero knowledge and so on. 

Since they all need to post back to L1 they're still comparatively expensive.

What you're looking for are L3s and appchains that are purpose driven
