i have not touched gcp in a while. but cloudrun is feeling promising and CHEAP. sooooo ... what am I missing?

The overhead to create a GCP account, provision things, security, etc is too high of a barrier for teams who just want to push something. There’s a huge missed opportunity to separate cloud run out and then use it to onboard people to “larger GCP” later

Cloud Run is excellent if you’re willing to take the time to set up a VPC. If you’d rather avoid that, Render makes external and internal service creation very easy

you are not alone. i did the aws solution arch cert/training many years ago and still felt overwhelmed. but with cloudrun, its pretty simple, setup account/org > create project > link git > map dns

re billing: n/w outbound $ etc did seem magic to me as well back in day, now i just make sure i put in a fixed $ as monthly budget and let things break instead of trying to overoptimize

I love railway - never heard of cloudrun

generally aws/gcp scares me because i feel like im gonna mess something up and get charged a stupid amount for stuff i don’t understand and not have access to their team for support
