I love how Aston Villa has been representing so well in this season UCL.

Liverpool grossly disappointed, clearly almost undermining the quality of the PL. 

Arne Slot made a mess of the team by not resting players ahead of the second leg.

That's true. 

But does that explain why he doesn't cycle players? The bench is very equipped, but he doesn't use them enough, let alone bring in any players from the youth team.

It wasn't his fault, he is not used to playing so many matches in his career.
