consumer apps that i think would do well as mini apps that aren't anchored in onchain transactions:

- NYT connections: daily ritual game
- locket, yope: share photos with a select group of friends
- lines of zen: interactive meditation app
- ren: AI-generated updates on your friends to remind you to reach out

There’s a lot of hype around mini apps on fc. I get it interactive posts, on-chain actions, seamless UX. But here’s my honest take: most of it feels like devs building for other devs. Mint this, stake that, tip here, vote there.

Mini apps could be powerful but not in the way we’re seeing now.

Where they actually make sense?
Places like Kenya or Tanzania, where tools like M-Pesa already serve millions. 
Mini apps there could be a game-changer for:
	•	Mobile money integrations
	•	Education language learning 
	•	Healthcare
	•	Identity & verification services
	•	Farmer tools, weather updates, local marketplaces

In those contexts, lightweight apps aren’t gimmicks they’re bridges.

But on Farcaster, it feels like we’re building toys inside an echo chamber. Slapping a Coinbase Wallet on a meme post won’t onboard millions or fix crypto’s UX issues. IMO

That doesn’t mean the experiment is worthless exploration is part of innovation.

Why not have both though? Gimmick fun ecosystem mini fapps that bring the community together while building alongside the powerful bridge fapps as well?
