Mildly curious how younger readers discovering my decade-old stuff now seem to refer to me as “ribbonfarm” Possibly a generation gap thing or simply an artifact of me being much less sociable now. In 2011-14 I was actively doing blogger meetups, so got to know a lot of people personally.

I have always known you as Venkatesh Rao, but I am not *younger reader.* Also, there is no substitute for IRL. I still prefer to do meetups whenever I am in a new city, though less frequently since the pandemic.

I’ve mostly given up meeting new people without a specific reason tbf and almost never do larger meetups now.
