My wife and I really need something like that... But we're not about to tell anything personal to the corporations. Maybe it will become easier for people to run local models so they can talk about personal things to it without that fear.

Synthetic relationships between humans and AIs have their upsides. They can help with anxiety and give you a buddy who doesn't judge. You can practice listening and understanding in a low-pressure setting. This makes it way easier to interact with others. Plus, AI companions respond, making you feel connected. You don't have to worry about getting rejected, which makes it a safe space to be yourself. Over time, as AI gets smarter and grows with you, it can become a lifelong friend and a steady source of support. 

Synthetic relationships have downsides too. They set unrealistic expectations for human relationships and raise privacy concerns. They can also promote unhealthy habits and limit personal freedom.
