imo the main benefit of CDJs is the portability of your sets via USB other than that, a controller / laptop can move the crowd just the same. most sets just come down to loops, tempo shift, beat jumping, and cue points lmk if this is blasphemous

I think it depends on your style as a DJ. I use vinyl and CDJs in venues, and almost never use loops and cue points, just mixing one track into another. Definitely agree it’s nice to just rock up somewhere with usbs. I do think it’s easy to get sucked into starting at a laptop screen so wouldn’t DJ using one
