Is it really many bots here? How come? I mean, I have to pay 5 bucks for it, thinking there will be more real users and I don’t mind paying as I am looking to engage in more meaningful way.

I agree with you. Sometimes you have to invest to earn. It’s just as I talk about it with a few people, not so tech savy but interested in meaningful engagement, they find 5 bucks is pricey. And I found $degen is indeed very innovative for those who cannot monetize their content due to restrictions.

5 dollars is nothing compared to how +EV the Farcaster ecosystem has been, and thus profitable to bot.

The infrastructure is great for communities to find a new place to settle into.

But the explosive growth of $degen is what attracted hoards of people, of which tipping and other aspects have monetized participation.
