Anyone else starting to get worried about this rise of casual open imperialism? Like, not "peaceful trade at prices social justice activists don't like" imperialism but actual "let's go conquer stuff" imperialism. I know it's "meant to be a joke", but often such jokes are a first step to normalizing something dark...

feels like it started w/ obama when syria used chemical weapons; we had a red line and they crossed it, and we blinked. then putin w/ ukrain, same. (i voted for obama but this was bad). look at china since ukraine - way more assertive. and now we have north korean troops in russia (that is imperialism too). trump adimres milei and all these folks, seems he will be assertive as well to some degree.
