Really interesting. Living in Europe we always see the jury as something weird in the court system.

Not necessarily me, but more the facts thereβs an additional layer. With a jury, there is this extra layer on top. Iβm also curious whether a citizen can refuse to sit on a jury, and how do you ensure that the jury always reflects society? We donβt have this in Europe.

Depends on the jurisdiction, but Citizens usually get one βfreeβ pass to skip jury duty but then are legally obligated to sit for the one after they pass on. Jury is randomly (dunno algorithm) from all taxpayers in a jurisdiction so peers are geographic peers

Really special. But a jury is only for complex cases, right? And how long does jury duty last? What if it takes weeks? My knowledge of juries doesnβt go beyond the movie β12 Angry Menβ π€£
