Not necessarily me, but more the facts there’s an additional layer. With a jury, there is this extra layer on top. I’m also curious whether a citizen can refuse to sit on a jury, and how do you ensure that the jury always reflects society? We don’t have this in Europe.

Depends on the jurisdiction, but Citizens usually get one “free” pass to skip jury duty but then are legally obligated to sit for the one after they pass on. Jury is randomly (dunno algorithm) from all taxpayers in a jurisdiction so peers are geographic peers
